This publication describes local practices to promote human rights, with an emphasis on how municipalities can have an influence internationally.

International support for civilian peace initiatives.
September 2011.

In any armed conflict a variety of civil initiatives are usually launched to overcome the causes of the conflict and to limit the destruction it causes. This publication describes some of these initiatives and provides resources that can be used to support these peace initiatives.

Fostering active citizenship in young people.
June 2011.

This publication presents the Service-Learning methodology, which can be used to strengthen ties between schools and the local community, and foster active citizenship in young people.

Urbicide and post-war rehabilitation.
March 2011.

This publication presents the main reconstruction and rehabilitation tasks that local governments can implement in a post-war context.

This publication describes some of the tasks that municipalities can perform to promote peace negotiations.

After a brief introduction to the armed conflict in Israel-Palestine, the paper analyzes what the major impacts on cities are and presents some ideas on different practices that are currently being used.

Culture of Peace . July 2008.

The publication proposes ways to not cooperate with violence and instead promote the Culture of Peace, according to the "Plan of Action for a Culture of Peace" approved by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1999.

Ban nuclear weapons . May 2008.

Publication that presents the problem of nuclear weapons. It shows some best practices developed locally, and provides information about campaigns and other resources for city governments.
