Alert! Report on conflicts, human rights and peacebuilding is a yearbook providing an analysis of the state of the world in terms of conflict and peacebuilding from three perspectives: armed conflicts, socio-political crises and gender, peace and security. The analysis of the most important events of the year and of the nature, causes, dynamics, actors and consequences of the main armed conflicts and socio-political crises that currently exist in the world makes it possible to provide a comparative regional overview and to identify global trends, as well as risk and early warning elements for the future. Similarly, the report also identifies opportunities for peacebuilding and for reducing, preventing and resolving conflicts.

About Alert!:
The world that Alerta! began to analyze just 25 years ago has little to do with the pessimism and disorientation that defines the current one. However, what has not changed is the rigour and commitment with which the specialists of the Escola de Cultura de Pau explain and contextualise the conflicts and tensions that make it stagger. Again, Alert! becomes an indispensable and very useful tool to understand their trends and to check, for example, how 2025 was the year with the most conflicts since 2011 or in which wars between states skyrocketed. One of the most appreciated keys to Alerta! is that it treats the most mediatic conflicts the same as those that have unfortunately fallen off the news radar. And another one, that also focuses on peace and gender perspectives, and there, among so much noise and negative inertia, we find some good news that deserve to be told.

Alert 2026! report, prepared by the Escola de Cultura de Pau of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, offers an in-depth look at the main trends in conflict worldwide during the year 2025. Supported by comparative charts and illustrative graphs, based on an annual monitoring of situations of armed conflict and socio-political tensions, the report shows a peak in the number of armed conflicts in 2025 and highlights their serious consequences for the civilian population. It also notes persistent gender challenges, particularly with regard to women’s participation in peace processes and cases of sexual violence. Undoubtedly, it is an essential tool for academics in the field of peace and conflict studies, and professionals who seek to transform socio-political conflicts to prevent their violent escalation.

Alert 2026! is consolidated as an analytical instrument of great value for the study of contemporary conflicts and their repercussions on society. With a rigorous and multidisciplinary approach, it offers conceptual frameworks that allow us to understand the impact of global and regional tensions, while facilitating the identification of future trends and scenarios. Their contribution is essential to guide the work of researchers, strengthen the capacities of civil society organizations and provide strategic inputs to those who seek to design more effective responses to emerging challenges. Alert 2026! shows the complexity of the present and contributes significantly to peacebuilding, promoting critical reflection on the causes and consequences of conflicts, facilitating informed decision-making and strengthening the capacity to generate coordinated responses to the challenges of the future.
