The ECP aims to promote and develop knowledge, values and attitudes of peace education within the university community and beyond. In accordance with the objective of educating against conformity and for a critical and transformative consciousness, we place emphasis on the need to educate on and for conflict. This involves working on a positive perspective of conflict and generating strategies and skills that help to deal with conflict nonviolently.
Our main priorities are:
• Promotion of peace education in compulsory education and at university level. We train university students in skills and knowledge for peace, as well as primary and secondary teachers to promote coexistence and education on conflict and to institutionalize the principles of peace education in schools. This task is carried out through teaching and advocacy so that the edited educational materials bring in the contents and values of peace education.
• Promotion of peacebuilding practices at the local level through training of educators, municipal staff and members of civil society, as well as through the promotion of the use of techniques for nonviolent transformation of conflicts at the community level, and through producing and disseminating teaching resources aimed at local actors.
• Support and promotion of peace education in non-formal education through the training of educators, producing teaching materials and offering advisory services to leisure time education movements and centers.
• Consultancy services and dissemination of peace education in contexts of armed conflict. Advisory services and support for peace education initiatives, identification of good practices and generation of resources in contexts of armed violence.>
